The State of Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr Tamer Almassri has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Government and the nation at large, following the country’s successful election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Ambassador Almassri said “this significant achievement, secured by an overwhelming mandate at the United Nations General Assembly, is a testament to the respect and confidence that the international community bestow upon Zimbabwe.
“It stands as a clear recognition of Zimbabwe’s principled commitment to diplomacy, its advocacy for the sovereignty of nations, and its steadfast pursuit of a more equitable international order,” said Dr Almassri.
He addes that as Zimbabwe prepares to take its seat at the horseshoe table, the State of Palestine is confident that the Republic of Zimbabwe will serve as a powerful voice for the Global South.
“We trust that Zimbabwe will continue its principled defense of international law, the protection of civilian populations, and the necessity of multilateral solutions to the world’s most pressing conflicts.
“In these challenging times, when the global architecture for peace is being tested, the presence of a nation that understands the value of peace, dialogue, and non-interference is a vital contribution to the Council.
“We look forward to witnessing Zimbabwe’s impactful contributions during its tenure and remain committed to strengthening our bilateral ties as we work toward a more just and peaceful world for all.”
He added that the State of Palestine reaffirms its deep fraternal bond with the Republic of Zimbabwe shared history and the common struggle for national liberation, self-determination and justice.
“We have stood together as partners in the pursuit of freedom, and we remain deeply appreciative of Zimbabwe’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in our quest for an independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as the Capital.
“The state of Palestine wishes the government continued success in its diplomatic endeavours on the world stage,” he added.
