Zimbabwe Women made history after beating visiting West Indies Women by four wickets in the second ODI of the ICC Women’s Championship series at Harare Sports Club this Sunda.
The victory was Zimbabwe Women’s first-ever ICC Women’s Championship win and saw them level the three-match ODI series 1-1.
Player of the Match Nyasha Gwanzura produced a match-winning all-round performance, taking four wickets with the ball before contributing an unbeaten 18 runs with the bat.
The victory gives Zimbabwe Women a major boost ahead of the third and final ODI against West Indies on September 30 at Harare Sports Club.
The two teams will then switch to the T20 format, with three matches scheduled for Takashinga Cricket Club on October 3, 5 and 7.
Zimbabwe will be hoping to carry the momentum from their historic ODI victory into the remaining matches of the series.
