The embassy of the State of Palestine has condemned the horrific and deeply disturbing actions of Israel’s far-right National Security Minister for taunting and dehumanizing detained international human rights activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla.
In a statement, the State of Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr Tamer Almassri said these actions are a direct reflection of a broader, systemic Israeli policy rooted in racism and fascism.
“The Global Sumud Flotilla vessels, which were sailing in international waters on a peaceful mission to deliver vital humanitarian aid to the blockaded Gaza Strip, were unlawfully intercepted by Israeli military forces.
“The international crew and activists aboard were effectively abducted and illegally detained.
“This aggressive overreach in international waters underscores a deliberate, criminal policy employed by the Israeli government to abuse, humiliate, and terrorize anyone who attempts to confront its ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people,” said Dr Almassri.
Ambassador Almassri strongly denounced this horrific act, which he said demonstrates the Israeli government’s employment of a criminal policy of abuse and humiliation against activists.
“The treatment of these international volunteers, individuals from Europe, the Americas, and South Africa is a window into the reality faced by the Palestinian people.
“If this is how the current Israeli government treats international activists in the public eye, one can only fathom the hell that Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem endure daily at the behest of this administration.
“This incident strips away any remaining pretence of democratic governance, openly demonstrating to the international community the violent, barbaric, and fascist mindset driving Israel’s leadership,” added Dr Almassri.
He added that the State of Palestine calls upon the international community, global human rights organizations, and all sovereign nations to explicitly condemn the actions of the Israeli government.
“The world must no longer look away.
“We urge immediate, concrete international accountability, including the implementation of targeted sanctions against this rogue state and its leadership, to halt these severe violations of international law and ongoing crimes against humanity, and to bring an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people,” he added.
