Zimbabwe and Africa’s strongest woman Chido Maenzanise, wrote another piece of history when she clinched gold at the recently held Eastrand Strongest event in South Africa.

The event which was held last Saturday,  saw Chido competing with 12 other athletes in the Open Category where she outclassed them all to bag the gold.

Chido could not hide her joy as she was full of praises for everyone who made her trip and success in SA possible.

Above all, she felt honoured as she was the only Zimbabwean who participated at the prestigious event.

“I’m feeling happy and excited because I was the only black woman competing and at first I wasn’t comfortable and on my first performance I didn’t do well.

“But then I remembered that I was not just doing this for myself, but I was doing it for my beloved nation Zimbabwe and I was the only one representing the country so I had to push hard.

“And I’m happy I brought the gold,” said an ecstatic Chido.

Chido added that she had gone for the competition “well trained and well prepared.”

Categories at the competition included lever deadlift, vehicle push (scrum style), circus dumbbell, dinner stones and log ladder.
