ZPCS Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu stands at one of the water sources

As part of fulfilling President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s clarion call to leave no place and no-one behind, the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) engaged ZimTrade and drilled a much needed borehole for the San Community where 42 Correctional Officers have been recruited from.
The community situated about 100km from Tsholotsho Centre, has over the years suffered marginalization which is evidenced by the lack of development and little to no access to basic human needs such as clean water.
And the only source of water for the Sifula Sengwe community, had completely dried up, posing a great danger to people as it (source) provides water to three villages leading to people traveling long distances on donkey drawn carts to access it.
Upon hearing their plight, the Commissioner General of ZPCS Moses Chihobvu, engaged ZimTrade on behalf of the Correctional Officers, leading to the community receiving a fully sponsored borehole as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility program.

A team from ZPCS led by Commissioner General Chihobvu and ZimTrade led by its Chief Executive Officer Allan Majuru this week travelled to Tsholotsho for the commissioning of the borehole at an event also attended by Local Chief Goledema, members of the Tsholotsho Rural District Council and the San community members.
It was quite a celebration of a milestone, as the clean water is a much needed resource to improve livelihoods.
Speaking at the event, Majuru pledged to further assist the community in sourcing inputs to ensure that they start a garden which supplies produce to the community.
He also urged the members to guard their borehole jealously so as to ensure its sustainability for a long time.
It was also added that the community had a role to ensure that the infrastructure is well kept as the community needed to unite and work together to ensure that it (infrastructure) does not only benefit them but future generations as well.
Commissioner General Chihobvu thanked the community for having faith in ZPCS and allowing their children to join the service.
He promised that they will continue to be considered in future intakes and more developmental projects will be implemented in the community.
The recruitment exercise of Correctional Officers by ZPCS started in 2022 and currently there are 12 women and 30 men.
