The Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe Tourism Expo 2026, has provided an opportunity to the Triangle Country Club to showcase all its facilities and put the wider Lowveld on the tourism map.
Famed for its lush, beautifully manicured golf course, Triangle Country Club has proved that it has much more to offer.
Journalists on a tour of Masvingo Province as a build up to the 19th edition of the tourism expo, bore witness to what the facility had to offer.
Gymkhana Events and Conference Centre in Masvingo is this year’s venue for the tourism expo which will be held from September 9-12.
From the Main Hall, to the Baobab Restaurant, to the Cinema Hall and the vast sports fields, you name it, Triangle Country Club indeed proved that it is a major player in Masvingo Province tourism sector.
Speaking to journalists during the tour, Triangle Country Club Hospitality Manager, Qhubekani Tshuma said the hosting of Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe Tourism Expo in Masvingo, had opened new tourism opportunities for them.
Tshuma said they had discovered that many visitors were not aware of the facilities available at Triangle Country Club, hence this was their time to shine and make a lasting impression.
“For us in the Lowveld, it’s more of us being known out there.
“Because a lot of people, each time we get visitors, even as close as Harare, some people don’t even know. They would not have known about this place.
“So for us, Sanganai has given us a chance to be visible on the tourism platform. Not only for Triangle Country Club, but I would say as Lowveld, as a destination,” said Tshuma.
She said whilst their venue could be famed for the lush golf course, they have more to offer.
“Because you will find that outside the sports tourism facilities that are available here, we have got accommodation facilities, we have got conference facilities and a number of dining options.”
The club offers a range of sporting facilities which Tshuma said could position it as an ideal destination for teams.
Tshuma added that following the upgrading of their cricket ground to host Zimbabwe’s flagship domestic club cricket competition, the National Premier League (NFL), they now believe they can upgrade to international standards.
She said the club was hoping to attract at least one or two teams to use its facilities ahead of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, which Zimbabwe is co-hosting alongside South Africa and Namibia.
“We are looking forward to at least getting one or two teams coming this side to camp, to train and enjoy the breath of fresh air as they prepare for the World Cup Games.
“The facilities, accommodation they have, meals they are available, so I’m sure it’s something that we are looking forward to getting that opportunity.”
The potential of Triangle Country Club as a sports tourism destination is not new, with Tshuma revealing that the South African rugby team previously used the facility as a training base in 1995.
And this development demonstrates the long-standing potential of the facility to host high-level sporting teams and opens opportunities for the club to revive that tradition through sports tourism.
Tshuma reiterated that the combination of facilities gives the club an opportunity to benefit from different segments of the tourism market, rather than relying solely on sports tourism.
The club is also strategically positioned to benefit from the wider attractions in the Lowveld, including Gonarezhou National Park, which offers visitors opportunities to experience Zimbabwe’s wildlife and natural heritage.
“We also have the Gonarezhou National Park, which is, I think it hosts one of the largest herds of elephants. So it’s something that our clients can look forward to,” she said.
Tshuma said Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe had therefore provided the club with an important starting point in raising its profile among tourism buyers and potential visitors.
“So in terms of tourism, I think Sanganai has brought us to the map. I think that’s our start. It’s brought us to the map.
“And people now get to know about Lowveld, what we offer, and the incredible facilities available,” she added.
