Philanthropist Dr Justice Mhishi has called on young people to reject drug and substance abuse, warning that the scourge is destroying lives, families and dreams while threatening Zimbabwe’s future.
Dr Mhishi further called on Zimbabweans to embrace unity and work together towards achieving Vision 2030, saying national development can only be realised when citizens put aside their differences and build an inclusive and peaceful nation.
He said this during the handover of 10 wheelchairs at Nyamazengwe Primary School in Gokwe North, Midlands Province, where he stressed that drug and substance abuse was destroying the lives of many young people and threatening the country’s future.
He urged youths to make positive choices by focusing on education, discipline and hard work.
“To our young people, I encourage you to stay focused on your future. Avoid drugs and substance abuse because they destroy lives, families, and dreams.
“Choose education, hard work and discipline. “Together, let us contribute positively to the development of our country,” he said.
Dr Mhishi said building a prosperous Zimbabwe requires citizens to put aside their differences and work together towards a common goal.
“Vision 2030 is our national dream. It is a dream for every Zimbabwean. It calls upon us to put aside our differences and work together to build a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive nation.
“Unity is our greatest strength, and together we can achieve more,” he said.
He said unity remains an important pillar in achieving national development and ensuring that every Zimbabwean benefits from the country’s progress.
Dr Mhishi further encouraged communities to support one another and promote peace, saying development can only be achieved when people work together.
“Our Government continues to work hard to improve the lives of persons with disabilities through different empowerment programmes. “As citizens, let us support one another, promote peace, and work together to build our nation,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the country’s development agenda, saying Zimbabweans should continue embracing inclusion, empowerment and national unity.
“Today, we proudly say yes to the Zimbabwean dream. We say yes to unity. We say yes to empowerment. We say yes to inclusion.
“We say yes to leaving no one and no place behind,” he added.
