TM Pick n Pay and CABS have combined forces to donate US$80 000 worth of chemotherapy drugs to KidzCan Zimbabwe.
The partnership which is in its second year, saw TM Pick n Pay give US$50 000 and CABS US$30 000, worth of life-saving drugs.
Furthermore, TM Pick n Pay donated US$15 000 in cash and US$15 000 worth of groceries.
Gamu Nyamuzinga from TM Pick n Pay, said they had raised the funds during the Orange Month promotion.
“We are here to celebrate not just the success of our Orange for Hope promotion, but the profound impact we can make together in the lives of children fighting cancer.
“At TM Pick n Pay, we believe that doing good is good business and in doing so, leveraging the power of community and the strength that comes from unity.
“This year, through our Orange for Hope initiative, we have rallied together once again to support KidzCan.
“Our customers have shown incredible generosity by purchasing Orange Cupcakes and other merchandise, contributing to our collective goal of raising funds to provide essential support for these young warriors.
“This collaboration (with CABS) exemplifies what we can achieve when we work together for a common cause. “The drugs we are donating today will ensure that children in need of chemotherapy get the treatment they need. But our commitment doesn’t stop there,” said Nyamuzinga.
Nyamuzinga added: “as we hand over these proceeds to KidzCan, let us remember that this is not just a financial contribution; it is a symbol of hope, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of our community.
“We are standing together in solidarity with these children and their families, and together, we can make a difference.
“In closing, I urge all of us to continue our efforts and to keep the conversation going. “Let’s encourage others to join us in supporting this vital cause, and let’s strive to create more opportunities for hope and healing.”
CABS Chief Finance Officer, Valerie Muyambo, said the occasion symbolised hope, compassion and community spirit.
“Cancer is a devastating challenge for anyone, but it is especially heart breaking when it affects children.
“No child should have to endure such a battle at such a young age.
“The emotional and financial toll it takes on families is immense, and it is in these moments that organisations like KidzCan become a beacon of light.
“They provide not only essential medication but also unwavering support and encouragement to children and their families during their most difficult times,” said Muyambo.
Muyambo added that just as they did last year, for every swipe on a CABS POS machine at TM Pick n Pay during the month of February, CABS pledged a donation to KidzCan.
“Today we are honoured to present KidzCan with a US$30 000 donation in the form of chemotherapy drugs.
“Our collaboration with TM Pick n Pay signifies the power of community and how, together, we can make a significant impact.
“Through collective commitment, we can all make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
“As we hand over this donation today, let us remember that we are not just providing financial assistance; we are offering hope and a brighter future to children suffering from cancer. “Together, we can help ensure that every child receives the treatment they deserve, enabling them to dream, thrive, and embrace life without the shadow of illness.
“Let us continue to work together, united in our mission to fight against childhood cancer.
“Together, we can create a world where every child can grow, heal, and flourish,” said Muyambo.
