Hoja Rabbits Director, Tawanda Bote, has expressed satisfaction after his company scooped six awards in the rabbits category at the 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.

The feat marked the first time Hoja Rabbits had exhibited at the annual agricultural showcase, with four of its rabbits winning first prizes, while two others came second and third respectively.

The 116th edition of the agricultural show started on Monday August 24 to Saturday August 29, and it ran under the theme “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge,”

Bote said the achievement had encouraged them to work harder and improve their performance at next year’s show.

“I’m thrilled and encouraged to work harder next year. And I’m also encouraging other rabbit farmers to come in their numbers next year,” said Bote.

He added that the strong showing during their first appearance had given them confidence to continue participating in the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.

The awards come as the rabbit farming sector continues to provide opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs to diversify their agricultural activities and explore alternative livestock enterprises.

And Bote reiterated that Hoja Rabbits will now be looking to build on its success and return to next year’s Zimbabwe Agricultural Show with an even stronger collection of rabbits.

Bote who was all smiles during the award ceremony, he capped it all with the signature tag linekurima tsuro, kukohwa mari,” loosely translated to mean that rearing rabbits is a profitable farming venture.
