Mhishi extends hope through wheelchair donations

Justice Mhishi talks to musician Greatman during the wheelchairs handover

Justice Mhishi through his Justice Mhishi Foundation is on a charitable drive to donate wheelchairs to people with disabilities.

Through the initiative which started in Harare, Mhishi is planning to donate over 200 wheelchairs to those in need, in various parts of the country as he says he wants to improve the lives of people with disabilities and restore dignity to vulnerable members of the community.

As part of this initiative, musician Greatman also received two received wheelchairs.

Some were handed over to some people who shall deliver them to beneficiaries.

“We are doing this not only out of passion but so that we can give back to the community.

“We have started in Harare but we are not stopping there, as we shall move to other areas as we are aiming to donate over 200 wheelchairs throughout the country.

“This is not the beginning, but we have done such initiatives before,” said Mhishi.

Mhishi said the initiative was driven by the need to uplift people with disabilities, many of whom struggle to access mobility equipment because of economic hardships.

“We realised that there are many people with disabilities who are suffering silently because they cannot afford wheelchairs and other assistive devices. Some are unable to move around freely while others have missed opportunities in life because of their condition.

“As a foundation, we felt it was important to intervene and bring relief to such individuals and families,” he said.

He said the programme was not only about donating wheelchairs, but about restoring dignity, confidence and independence to beneficiaries.

“A wheelchair may look like a small thing to some people, but to the beneficiary it means freedom, dignity and an opportunity to live a better life.

“We want people with disabilities to know that they are valued members of society and that they deserve equal opportunities just like everyone else,” said Mhishi.

Mhishi added that the initiative was also meant to encourage communities, corporates and well-wishers to support people with disabilities and promote inclusion.

“We cannot leave anyone behind when it comes to development and community support. People with disabilities must be included in every programme and every opportunity available in society.

“This initiative is a reminder that together as Zimbabweans, we can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable people through unity, compassion and love,” he said.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Justice Mhishi Foundation, saying the wheelchairs would improve their day-to-day lives and ease mobility challenges.

They applauded the initiative, saying it would bring hope to many people living with disabilities across the country.

“This is a very noble gesture because there are many people out there who are struggling. What the Justice Mhishi Foundation is doing will change lives and inspire hope to many families,” they said.
