Dr Tamer Almassri, the State of Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe
BY MUNYARADZI BLESSING DOMA
Since the commencement of the ceasefire in Gaza on October 11, at least 97 Palestinians have been killed while 230 were injured, a move that has been condemned in the strictest of terms by the Palestinian Embassy in Zimbabwe.
Ambassador Tamer Almassri said these flagrant breaches of international humanitarian law, are a stark reminder of Israel’s blatant disregard for human life and its continued pursuit of genocide crimes against unarmed civilians.
“These actions constitute a grave breach of the agreement and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
“The Israeli military has violated the truce agreement at least 80 times, demonstrating a clear disregard for the ceasefire and a commitment to ongoing aggression.
“These documented violations include: Direct gunfire targeting civilians, airstrikes, deliberate and specific targeting of individuals and areas, the creation of “fire belts” in civilian areas, and the arrest of civilians,” said Ambassador Almassri.
He reiterated that Israel’s actions unequivocally demonstrate its lack of interest in peace.
“Instead, Israel seems hell-bent on continuing its relentless assault and genocide on defenseless Palestinian civilians. Such belligerent behavior by Israel and its fascist leaders proves, yet again, that it is an entity that thrives on warmongering and the systematic destabilization of the Middle East.
“Furthermore, Israel has escalated its war plans by closing all crossing points into Gaza for humanitarian aid.
“This calculated move directly impedes the delivery of essential supplies to a population facing catastrophic conditions, further illustrating a policy of collective punishment against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
“In light of these atrocities, the State of Palestine urgently renews its call upon the international community to immediately hold Israel accountable for its grave breaches of the truce, its violations of international humanitarian law, and its ongoing genocidal crimes against the Palestinian people.
“The world must act decisively to stop Israel’s relentless aggression and ensure justice for the victims,” added Dr Almassri.
