The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) has announced the public release of the WHO GBT Assessment Report, following the conclusion of the assessment by the WHO Regulatory Systems Strengthening Team from May 14th to 15th, 2024.
MCAZ said the report is available on their website.
“This marks a pivotal step toward greater transparency, reaffirming our commitment to the core values of customer focus, integrity, and accountability.
“This move also advances our value of teamwork, as it strengthens collaboration with industry partners, sister agencies, and stakeholders in fulfilling our mandate.
“We recognize that transparency plays a critical role in building trust with our stakeholders and customers.
“By making this report publicly available, we aim to provide greater insight into our policies, practices, and processes.
“This empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions and better understand how they can support MCAZ in carrying out its responsibilities,” said MCAZ Director General, Richard Rukwata in a statement.
He added: “while we acknowledge that other National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) who have undergone similar benchmarking have not yet made such reports public, we believe that transparency is crucial to fostering trust and advancing the growth of NRAs, whose mission is to serve the public interest. “We hope others will follow this example, as it will expedite the learning and development process for NRAs globally.
“Our stakeholders have a right to understand how we operate, and we are proud to lead this initiative.
“We encourage all stakeholders to review the report and provide feedback to foster continued learning and growth.
“At MCAZ, we are committed to enhancing transparency and accountability.
“This release marks a significant milestone in that journey, and we remain dedicated to setting new standards in our industry,” added Rukwata.
