The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has issued a stern directive compelling all tourism facilities across the country to register by February 28, 2026, warning that non-compliant operators risk immediate closure.
The move signals Government’s intensified efforts to sanitise the tourism sector, improve compliance and enhance the Ease of Doing Business environment.
In a press release, ZTA made it clear that registration is not optional but a legal requirement under Section 36 of the Tourism Act.
It is ordered that all designated tourist facilities are required to register with the Authority, failure of which will result in the closure of unregistered facilities.
Beginning March 1, 2026, ZTA, working closely with law enforcement agencies, will embark on nationwide inspections across all 10 provinces.
Members of the public have also been urged to avoid using unregistered facilities and to report illegal operators to the Authority.
Properly registered facilities display ZTA licenses on their walls.
