Zimbabwean athletes delivered an impressive performance at the recent Global Powerlifting and Bodybuilding Championship held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, proudly raising the country’s flag on the international stage.
Three athletes Chido Maenzanise, Spiwe Munyaka and Simba Mhaka represented Zimbabwe at the prestigious global competition which attracted competitors from across the world, including Britain, Australia, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan.
The championship featured squat, bench press and deadlift categories among other events, drawing some of the strongest and most competitive athletes globally.
Africa’s Strongest Woman, Maenzanise, secured first place in her category and finished second overall in the competition. Munyaka also claimed first position in her category and placed third overall, while Mhaka emerged as the number one overall winner in his division.
Speaking after her victory, Maenzanise said she remains committed to pushing her limits and representing Zimbabwe with pride.
“I will continue to do my best in the sport, raising my country’s flag high,” she said.
The athletes’ achievements mark another milestone for Zimbabwean powerlifting and bodybuilding, demonstrating the country’s growing presence in international strength sports.
Their performance in Dubai not only highlights individual excellence but also underscores Zimbabwe’s potential to compete at the highest levels in global competitions.
