Sanyatwe appoints NACZ Board Members

In a move underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive and transparent governance in the arts sector, Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Lt. Gen (Rtd) Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe has appointed a new Board for the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ).

The 10 member Board serving a 4 year term until November 30 2029, comprises of Dr Nozipo Maraire as Chairperson, Ms Tariro Washe, Ms Gail Van Jaarsveldt, Mr Takawira Maswiswi, Ms Sibongile Ncube, Mr Farai Mpfunya, Mr Lawrence Mkwala, Brig. Gen (Rtd) Richard Matambo, Dr Lucia Mnkandhla and Mr Raphael Peter Mhone.

The appointment has been made in strict adherence to the provisions of Section 11 of the Public Entities and Corporate Governance Act (Chapter 10:3) and in full compliance with Section 5 (1) of the National Arts Council Act, which outlines the framework for the composition and appointment of the Board. This signals the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering good governance and effective leadership with public entities.

In a statement Minister Sanyatwe said that “the distinguished individuals with a wealth of experience and expertise have a collective mandate which includes nurturing talent from grassroots to elite levels, improving Arts infrastructure, enhancing artist’s development programs and securing sustainable funding for arts initiatives while promoting inclusivity across the sector.”

“The Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture extends its congratulations to the newly appointed Board and anticipates a fruitful tenure dedicated to the advancement of Arts for all Zimbabweans Creatives, as well as a period of accelerated growth and success for our artists and stakeholders within the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI),” Minister Sanyatwe said.
