Three-hundred cyclists converged at the Borrowdale Office Park for the third edition of the Cimas iGo Pedal to Wellness cycling event.
The cycling event organised by the Cimas Group Health through their iGo Wellness Division, was open to all cyclists, had distances which included, 45km (adults), 22,5km (adults) and 4,5km (children).
This year’s event was held under the theme: “Promoting Health and Active Lifestyles.”
Head of iGo, Dr Nicola Misi, said they were pleased with the turn out, which signaled a very successful event, all with the aim of promoting wellness.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended today. We had a very successful event.
“Today we hosted the annual Pedal to Wellness cycling event. We are happy with the turn out, we are happy with everyone who came,” said Dr Misi.
She added: “basically we came here to promote cardiovascular health, so in commemoration of Heart Health Day which is on September the 29th, we are encouraging people to come here and get active.
“Why are we doing that, we have noticed that we really have a problem with chronic diseases, so we are trying to get people to live better and basically to do it in a fun way, by cycling.”
Dr Misi said people could attend as individuals, group or families, reiterating, “we are just hammering on that message that we want people to be as happy as possible.
“Cimas iGo is all about wellness and we are promoting preventative health, we are promoting active lifestyles, good nutrition, better health overall.”

Eddie
Speaking after participating in the 22,5km race, one of the riders, Eddie said, “it was a good ride, you will keep fit and thanks to Cimas for organizing this cycling event.
“We look forward to other events in the future.”

Fitness Bae
Fitness Bae completed the 25km cycle, saying she thoroughly enjoyed it.
“The uphills I was not expecting those, but I managed to sail through them.
“My goal was not to stop, I was either going to slow down or to just keep on moving so this was really a great ride.”
She added, “in terms of wellness, I think Cimas has done a great job of bringing cyclists together because we don’t have much traction when it come to cycling, so this is a very thought out exercise and I love it.
“And it’s also preparing me for a cycle that I will taking part in October in Joburg, so I look forward to more of these.
“I hope next year there will be more and more people, and l loved that there were more women this year than last year and thank you Cimas,” added Fitness Bae.
Shine Doko
Another cyclist enthusiast, Shine Doko, said he did 50km, coming in second.
“This is good for fitness and I can testify because I live a healthy lifestyle owing to my strict exercises.
“I encourage young people to come and be part of such events because even those who are battling drug and substance abuse, cycling will help them to battle this scourge.
“Because when you cycle, you tend to focus on that and this is also for the health, you will be fit and strong,” added Doko.
