The genocide in the Gaza Strip can only be called over if its effects are removed because the Israeli aggression still continues, State of Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Tamer Almassri has said.
Dr Almassri said just on Tuesday (14 October, 2025) seven Palestinians had been killed by the Israeli forces.
He revealed this on Wednesday in Harare, during an event to commemorate two years of the genocide.
At the event which was held at Theatre In The Park, Zambuko/Izibuko, a political theatre group, performed a drama which depicted the sufferings in the Gaza Strip, much to the appreciation of attendees.
“You cannot say that the genocide is finished, actually the genocide will be finished totally when we can remove all its effects.
“And actually when we open Gaza Strip for the support, humanitarian and medical aid and to rebuild the country.
“Because Gaza Strip unfortunately after two years of this genocide, became just a city of rubble and diseases, nothing else,” said Ambassador Almassri in an interview.
He added that the commemorations were significant and important as he also praised Zimbabwe for joining the public opinion denouncing the genocide.
Dr Almassri said the solidarity messages are very important for the victims who still suffer from the genocide and its effects.
“Today when we actually gathered here to raise our voice, to send our message of solidarity with these victims, you are talking actually about the current situation.
“You raise your voice to say that stop the Israeli effects or influence and continuous aggression against the civilians who need the support or who need the food, who need the full rehabilitation.”
He added that the two year genocide had led to the death of more than 76,000 martyrs and victims, mainly children and women and 170,000 injured.
“Israel destroyed all the life significance in Gaza Strip, education, health sector like hospitals, medical clinics, streets and homes.
“Now from 2.3 million, we have more than 2 million evacuated, displaced in Gaza Strip and Israel until now controls or occupies Gaza, we have 54 percent of the small Gaza Strip, actually the disaster is continuous, and the Israeli apartheid occupation still prevents the Palestinian people to rehabilitate.
“Because until now they control the borders, they prevent even the food, the medical, the medical needs or requirements to enter, they destroyed all the schools, the universities in Gaza Strip.
“And actually you are talking about a society in real need of rehabilitation and support from the beginning.
He added that Israel has still continued with the aggression.
“And actually to remind everyone that starvation was one of the main Israeli weapons during the genocide, the starvation is still there. Israel actually closed all the Gaza Strip and no one can enter, no one can leave, even they prevent all the journalists to enter Gaza Strip.
“So how can we consider that the genocide finished totally? Actually we have ceasefire for four or five days, but despite the ceasefire, the Israeli apartheid occupation is continuing the violations.
“Yesterday, only yesterday (Tuesday, 14 October, 2025), they killed seven Palestinians in Gaza Strip, maybe it is not a number if you want to compare it with the previous number.
“Because according to our statistics, Israel used to kill every day 92 victims.
“You are talking about 18 000 orphans in Gaza Strip, it is very important for us,” he added.
